Last Updated: 14 April 2026

Effective Date: 14 April 2026

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Plaintext website and your enrolment in Plaintext programmes. By using the website or submitting an enrolment enquiry, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Definitions

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing the website or submitting an enquiry, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement under Malaysian law. If you are enrolling on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to do so.

3. Programme Description

Plaintext provides educational programmes focused on sustainability-finance vocabulary and document literacy. All programmes are strictly educational. Nothing delivered in any Plaintext session constitutes financial, investment, legal, or professional advice of any kind. Plaintext does not evaluate, recommend, or comment on specific financial instruments, funds, strategies, companies, or markets.

Programmes are offered primarily in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Session schedules, formats, and availability are subject to change. Confirmed session dates are communicated at the time of enrolment.

4. Enrolment

Enrolment is confirmed upon receipt of payment and a written confirmation from Plaintext. Places in each cohort are limited and allocated on a first-come basis. Plaintext reserves the right to decline any enrolment at its discretion.

For organisational enrolments, a single point of contact should be nominated for administrative coordination. Invoices are available upon request.

5. Fees and Payment

Programme fees are as follows, denominated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM):

Fees are payable in full prior to the first session unless otherwise agreed in writing. Payment methods accepted include bank transfer and online payment. Fees are inclusive of all materials specified for each programme.

Cancellation and Refunds

Cancellations notified more than 14 days before the first session will receive a full refund. Cancellations notified 7–14 days before the first session will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations with fewer than 7 days' notice are non-refundable. Transferring a place to another participant is permitted with prior notification. If Plaintext cancels a session, participants will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to a future cohort.

6. Participant Conduct

Participants agree to engage with sessions in good faith, to treat other participants and facilitators with respect, and to refrain from recording sessions without explicit written consent. Disruption of sessions or behaviour that impairs the experience of other participants may result in removal from the programme without refund.

Participants agree not to reproduce, distribute, or republish session materials, facilitator notes, or vocabulary glossaries beyond their own personal educational use.

7. Intellectual Property

All materials produced by Plaintext — including facilitator notes, vocabulary glossaries, and printed companions — remain the intellectual property of Plaintext. Participants are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use these materials for personal educational purposes. Source documents used in sessions are publicly available and are not proprietary to Plaintext.

8. Disclaimers

Plaintext programmes are provided for educational purposes only. Plaintext makes no representations that participation will lead to any particular professional outcome, change in reading ability, or comprehension of any specific document. The website and its content are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.

Nothing on this website or in any Plaintext session constitutes financial advice. Plaintext is not a licensed financial adviser and does not hold any Capital Markets Services Licence under the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 (Malaysia). Participants should consult a licensed professional for financial decisions.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Malaysian law, Plaintext's total liability to any participant for any claim arising from enrolment or use of the website shall not exceed the programme fee paid by that participant. Plaintext shall not be liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses.

Plaintext shall not be liable for failure to perform obligations arising from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including illness of a facilitator, natural events, or infrastructure failures.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Plaintext, its facilitators, and staff from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or your conduct during a Programme.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate an enrolment agreement in accordance with the cancellation policy in Section 5. Plaintext reserves the right to remove a participant from a programme with immediate effect if that participant breaches these Terms. Sections 7, 8, 9, 10, and 13 survive termination.

12. Privacy

Personal data collected in connection with your use of the website or enrolment in a programme is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes arising from these Terms or from enrolment in a Plaintext programme shall first be referred to informal resolution by written notice to [email protected]. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

14. General Provisions

15. Changes to These Terms

Plaintext may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Material changes affecting active enrolments will be communicated to participants by email. Continued use of the website or participation in sessions after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
